HOW DOES 'BALAYAM' WORK
To be more specific, Balayam is an ancient Yogic Acupressure therapy in which a person rubs his/her fingernails of both hands against each other to stimulate scalp’s activities. Roots of hair follicles on scalp are connected to fingernails. Those nerves are inside the fingernails region. So when one rubs finger nails against each other, pressure is created which in turns help VIGOROUS blood supply and oxygen to reach the hair roots from where the hair gets the required nutrition.
As per Reflexology ,one's nails and scalp head region are internally connected via nerves. But due to center of gravity the blood is not able to reach your scalp region. So when one does Balayam yoga ,it helps blood flow in a fast pace to the scalp region from where the hair roots are able to draw essential nutrients for their proper health and re growth. This is the purpose of this yoga .
RIGHT WAY OF DOING IT .
Please ignore the black mark on my index finger as it is voting ink .In image 1..just see below the voting mark, you can see white area..semi round, that is lunula & cuticle and area below that is finger roots. Look at image 2,roughly the pink area that has been marked..that area has to be rubbed only and not any other if you want hair growth on the scalp of your head. For instance ,if you rub the middle portion of finger nails with each other then hair may grow on chest or shoulders .Also do not rub finger tips as hair will grow on your ears. So use only the method that i've told you .
One will benefit only if does it in a right method, time and regularly .
Adjust the fingers (barring the Thumb) in the same way as shown in pic below
Then rub lunula & cuticle ( the semi round white portion ,visible in lower potion of fingers) and nail root area of the finger nails facing each other, to and fro in a horizontal manner. It will take some initial time for you to adjust to this yoga. After doing it for 10-15 mins ,you will feel, your scalp region becoming hot .That's an indication that you are doing it right and the blood circulation is taking part in the scalp region ,thus providing oxygen and nutrients to the hair roots.
